First there are some really cheap Chinese imported bulbs. These make about 90% of the light of an ordinary HPS bulb. Second there are standard spectrum HPS bulbs. Next there are normal enhanced spectrum bulbs. The problem with normal enhanced spectrum bulbs is that they are dimmer. The most common enhanced spectrum bulb is actually a 430 watt bulb designed to run on 430 watt ballasts. Because this bulb also happens to run on a 400 watt ballast, it is often misrepresented as a 400 watt bulb. When adjusted for wattage, it actually makes less light using more energy than regular HPS bulbs. Our high output bulb is a superior type using patented technology. You see, the arc tubes of these bulbs are more translucent. The arc tubes of ordinary HPS bulbs are quite opaque. The light produced by the arc just never gets out. On the other hand, our more translucent arc tube more than compensates for the light levels ordinarily lost by spectral enhancement.
